Clara (Irish: An Clárach, Clárach) is a parish in County Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland. The parish consists of around one thousand inhabitants, and is situated three miles east of Kilkenny city. Saint Colman's church is situated at the centre of the parish, and Saint Colman is considered the patron saint of Clara. Clara is also home to a Clara Castle, a six-storey tower house built in the fifteenth century by the Shortall family. [1]

Although small in size, Clara contains several other smaller areas such as Castlewarren, Dunbell and Clifden. Overall it is the largest geographical parish in Kilkenny.

The parish is home to the Clara GAA club, which has produced some famous inter-county hurlers such as Jim Langton, Paddy Prendergast, Lester Ryan and Harry Ryan.

One of the parishes milestones in sport came in 1986, when then won their first and only Senior Hurling Championship.
